Keynote Speakers

Dr. Teemu Manderbacka
VTT/Aalto University, Finland
Leading expert in maritime technology, serving as a Research Team Leader at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and a Professor of Practice at Aalto University. His work focuses on sustainable shipping, maritime safety, and innovative technologies to advance the global maritime industry. Dr. Manderbacka’s expertise in hydrodynamics and energy efficiency has significantly contributed to international projects promoting greener and safer maritime practices.

Prof. Chien-Ming Wang
University of Queensland, Australia
Leading authority in structural engineering, specializing in very large floating structures (VLFS) for offshore applications. He holds the position of TMR Chair Professor in Structural Engineering at the University of Queensland, Australia. His research focuses on developing innovative floating solutions to address land scarcity and promote sustainable infrastructure.

Dr. Brydon Wang
KPMG Australia
Expert at the crossroads of law, technology, and urban design governance, specializing in sustainable urban development and floating city infrastructure. Dr. Wang’s research explores innovative floating solutions, including large-scale, environmentally-friendly structures that expand urban spaces onto water bodies. He co-edited Large Floating Structures, a comprehensive exploration of marine urban sprawl and offshore architecture, and has contributed to global discussions on sustainable city expansion.
Preliminary Program
The conference program is designed to deliver a rich blend of insightful sessions, networking opportunities, and unique local experiences.
Day 1
The event will begin with an Opening Ceremony, featuring important remarks from distinguished guests from Espoo City and key industry leaders. This will be followed by keynote presentations from renowned experts. Afterward, participants can attend seven simultaneous presentation sessions, where researchers will present their work across diverse topics.
Throughout the day, networking spaces will be available and can be booked in advance through our app, providing dedicated opportunities for connection and collaboration. Attendees will also have access to the floating sauna experience, which can be enjoyed at any time during the day or reserved for a relaxing end to the event.
Day 2
The second day will begin with keynote presentations from leading experts, offering new insights and inspiration. This will be followed by another full schedule of seven simultaneous presentation sessions, where researchers will share their work across diverse topics.
Throughout the day, networking spaces will be available and can be booked in advance through our app, providing dedicated opportunities for connection and collaboration. Attendees will also have access to the floating sauna experience, which can be enjoyed at any time during the day or reserved for a relaxing end to the event.
Closing Banquet:
The conference will conclude with the Closing Banquet, a celebratory evening marking the end of the event. This will be a chance to reflect, connect, and celebrate with fellow participants. Please note that banquet tickets are sold separately from the main conference registration.
Day 3: Technical Tour (optional, limited spots)
Join the Technical Tour and visit different floating facilities.
The technical tour includes visits to the VTT laboratory, featuring an exploration of the wave tank, which is used for model testing of floating solutions for several companies. The journey continues to Floating Clubhouse Villa Helmi, followed by a scenic boat tour passing the Floating Padel Court. Lunch will take place at Allas Pool, in the center of Helsinki at Kauppatori, along with a facilities tour showcasing its floating pools. The tour then moves to Meripaviljonki floating restaurant, concluding with a networking coffee.
Pre-registration is available when purchasing a conference ticket. With only 50 spots available, those who pre-register will be the first notified when sign-ups open.
